Healing in the Wilderness

A few years ago when the Lord took us on a “mobile” lifestyle, to trust Him as our only source of support, it was so incredibly hard. We started in the tiniest hotels and it was very difficult to squeeze everyone into a room. Each child had a bed and I had made myself a little place to sleep on the wooden floor. Day after day, we barely scraped by–and yet we always had enough.

I never knew where the provisions would come from and that was terrifying enough. The Lord helped me to trust in His promises by writing these love letters that are created directly out of His living words of promise. Somehow having it in a personal letter form, helped me to calm my soul and trust Him.

There was a reason that it had to start out the way that it did. I had been given a promise of abundant wealth directly from the Father and it is part of My calling to be a great blessing to others and provide a safe shelter in a very chaotic time that is coming in the future.

I had deep layers in my soul of generational hoarding that needed to be healed. It was only through the wilderness that I was able to learn to trust God and allow His promises to heal me.

When the Israelites were in the wilderness, God would send them their daily manna to cover what they needed. However many of the people did not trust God to take care of them day after day and they tried to hoard the manna. The manna that those people hoarded would rot and not be consumable.

The healing time of the wilderness is a time to be healed of those soul afflictions by learning unconditional trust in God. Many times I experienced that “rotting manna” when I would try to go without meeting my needs to hoard what God sent me. Every time what I had would be eaten away. It was like I did not have a plug in my sink and the water would just keep running out.

A problem that God showed me is that many of His children will try to obtain the promises of His abundance through other means, like trying to manifest it themself or seeking some kind of vibration from the universe. He took me into a vision to explain what happens when people do this.

It is like arriving in a warm, wonderful place that feels so good. People become obsessed with the natural high that comes from that kind of witchcraft. Yet that place is overflowing with gigantic locusts–and they are everywhere!

A spiritual locust is something that is ravenous and devours to cause severe famine and starvation. During the dry conditions, the locusts swarm together and this causes the serotonin levels to rise, giving them a ferocious appetite.

When the rain finally falls and people find the bliss that they were seeking, the locusts transform into the gregarious phase of being a massive flying adult. These abundantly rich conditions cause a storm of locusts and they crowd together to devour and consume—until there is nothing left.

The consequences of seeking wealth outside of the resurrected life of Jesus and His promises have very grave results. Eventually, those people who tried to sneak in to steal from God will suffer terrible consequences in both soul and in natural conditions.

I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be liberated, will go in and go out, and will find pastures. The thief approaches with malicious intent, looking to steal, slaughter, and destroy; I came to give life with joy and abundance. John 15:9-10

Sometimes the high mountaintop of abundance begins in the valley, where we learn to trust God as our everything. His promises must become our life and we have to learn to anchor them in our soul until we see them become tangible in this life. It takes time and patience to allow His promises to become one in our hearts and minds.

In Hebrews 13:5, we are warned about letting the love of money consume our character. Yet in that same verse, we can find safety in the Father’s promise of wealth and abundance, as we receive through Him all that we need. He doesn’t want you to be poor or to suffer, but He wants to be your first love and for you to trust Him with all that you need.

Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have;

for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!” Hebrews 13:5

It took me a long time to understand this and so many times during this journey, I have questioned God’s love for me. I would walk up and down the street next to the hotel, sobbing, and saying, “God, why do you hate me to ask me to suffer”. I didn’t know then, but I was not chosen for suffering. I was chosen to be blessed!

God has raised me to new levels since those times of having my face laying on the gravel with hot tears drenching my skin in desperation. I am still not to the heights that He promised, but every season gets better and better. He has grown in the ways that He has provided for us and the comforts have grown substantially too.

I often have to bring myself back to God and release the days of suffering. Because His promise has to be my home where I rest and not the post-traumatic memories of surviving in the wilderness. The wilderness is a place of being humbled, to surrender into His promises and receive the inherited riches of our loving Jesus.

After the wilderness comes the wide-open places of the land of promise. It is at that time that God showed me that my bank would be totally flooded with money from His love. The manna is only for a short time and it serves the purpose to teach us how to lean intimately into Jesus as our everything.

These letters really work—but only if you are willing to cling to them over and over and over with all of your heart, mind, and emotions to believe them despite the external conditions. It is part of making His promises the pillar of our lives. Depending on the person, it can take some time of growing in faith and learning to trust in God.

If you are reading this now, then you can know deep in your heart that the Father has chosen you to be blessed. Although there may be difficult steps along the way, you are guaranteed to enter into what He has promised. He only asks for unconditional trust and that His words would be the center of our heart and mind.

I am working through trusting Him again right now because our next reservation is ending and I need to trust that He will show up with what we need to continue having this place of refuge. I have a really big hope that He will go above and beyond all that I have asked or imagined—and that is a promise. God bless you and prosper you in every way!

Much love, Dannette
