The Unlikely

For years the Lord has told me that my story is like ‘Dumbo’. He said that the thing that was my most criticized weakness would be the very thing that He would use to lift me up with His power and with honor. He used to always tell me, “embrace being different, because it is being different that makes you fly”.

Until recently I didn’t really understand what that was because I have always been weird. However, in the past 2 years, I have had to walk through the humiliation of knowing poverty while following His promise to give me and my children prosperity. And for the past year, the Lord has asked me to be very open and authenticially vulnerable with you about my struggles.

As I did this way of obeying the Lord to go into a strange way of living and not hiding behind a false persona of perfection, I have often been mocked like Dumbo by the arrogant. A few times after exposing my human side of pressing beyond the emotions of fear to see supernatural miracles, I had prideful leaders say things about it publically, like “learn to be a leader” or “don’t follow leaders like that…etc”. It made me laugh because by doing so they were exposing their own ugliness of control and manipulation.

Over this weekend, the Lord highlighted to me the focus that Dumbo had in the newer version of the movie. Whenever Dumbo would fix his attention on the feather and sniff it into his trunk, he would rise up with the miracle of flight. Even those who mocked him before for being different found themselves looking up in awe and amazement.

I love that because that is what God does for us! He uses our weakness as the very thing to bless us with His overcoming power and the gift of honor instead of shame. I also totally love that it was (of all things) a feather! A feather is a sign that God often gives me to remind me of His promise to provide.

Lately, I have lost my focus on the promises and I am hoping that I can be like Dumbo. I hope that I can fix my attention back onto His promise so that His beautiful words will lift us up over this opposition. We never have to be perfect to see His miracles of love. In fact, I don’t consider myself a leader at all, I just love to share with you the things that I find…the treasures 🙂

The other night in a dream I was with Holy Spirit and he was taking me to a movie that the Father made for me and it was a personal love story. He told me to “put on hope” and then we got ourselves popcorn and prepared to watch the movie. With everything soon changing, that is exactly what I am trying to do.

I am hoping that we will transition into the new town this weekend, but it will take a miracle. I have no idea how it could happen, but I do know that God says nothing will be impossible. It is always Him and His power that flows through our weakness. Right now my weakness looks more like a need…a very desperate need. How perfect of a place for God to show up to manifest the love of His provisions for our ever-present need.

My friends thank you for not giving up on our story and for your loyal love throughout the years. It is a comfort to know that there are real people out there that really understand what it means to show love to the unlikely. I also want to encourage you to share your story, even if you feel insignificant in doing so. Like Gideon, God loves to use the least of these to show His best love stories. 🙂

With love and blessings,

Dannette Lynn

For a love gift:

My grace is always more than enough for you,

and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.”

So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak

I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me.
